Ask The Doctor: Wound Care

Carlos Dator Jr., medical director of the Center for Wound Healing at Oswego Health  will present an Ask The Doctor Program at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 30th at the Center, located on the third floor of Oswego Hospital.

During his presentation, Dr. Dator Jr., will discuss the treatment options available at the Center for hard-to-heal wounds and the use of hyperbaric therapy. The Center for Wound Healing at Oswego Health opened last summer and is providing care to community members with wounds that have not healed in 30 days. Among the treatment options is the use of the Center’s two hyperbaric chambers.

Community members who attend the program are asked to meet in the hospital lobby at 5:45 p.m. and the group will be directed up to the third floor. Tours of the Center will be a part of the program.

“This is a successful, evidenced-based researched program that is tried and true with a 92 percent healing rate and it takes on average 29 medical healing days for the majority wounds to heal,” Dr. Dator said. “I look forward to meeting community members at the program and sharing the benefits of our Center.”

Dr. Dator was recently named medical director for the Center and took part in specialized wound care training at Healogics University, located in Jacksonville, FL, enabling him to treat hard-to-heal wounds and deliver hyperbaric medicine care.

Dr. Dator Jr., graduated from Oswego High School and attended Loyola College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, graduating cum laude. He obtained his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, located on the island of St. Maarten. He completed his family medicine residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.
