Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Malika Iton has joined the professional staff at Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C. and the medical staff at Oswego Health.
Iton has relocated to Oswego from New York City, where she provided care at several NYC hospitals as an obstetrical nurse. She has also worked at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing, where she served as a lecturer and clinical instructor.
The small town atmosphere attracted Iton to her new position in Oswego. “Everyone is just so friendly and during my visit, it seemed like one big family,” she said. “And, that’s just what I was looking for.”
She earned her master’s degrees in Nursing, Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Philadelphia School of Nursing. She is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and the National Certification Corporation as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
Iton said she is eager to provide a range of women’s services, including well women’s care and gynecological/obstetrical services. “I truly enjoy working with women and helping them care for themselves,” Iton said. She will be sharing 24-hour hospital obstetrical coverage at Oswego Hospital alongside Daniel Coty, D.O; Raj Mahajan, M.D; and Theresa Naro, C.N.M.
Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C. has been providing obstetrical and gynecological services to the women of Oswego County for more than fifty years. In addition to routine obstetrical and gynecological services, staff members offer gynecological surgery, infertility and a medically supervised weight loss program.
