Free Healthy Living Classes Offered at Central Square Medical Center

To help residents improve their health status, Oswego Health is offering free workshops developed by Stanford University.

The healthy living classes will be held Tuesdays, starting Dec. 1st and ending Jan. 12th, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Central Square Medical Center, located at 3045 East Avenue in Central Square. There will be no class held on Dec. 29th

During the sessions, residents can learn how to better manage their chronic condition.

This program is designed to help those with any chronic disease, such as arthritis, heart disease, osteoporosis or diabetes to improve their health status. The workshops will cover nutrition and exercise, as well as how to get support, tips on how to talk to your physician and how to deal with pain and fatigue. Participants will learn goal setting techniques and establish a step-by-step plan to improve their health. Caregivers of those with chronic diseases are also welcome to take part in the classes.

“This program provides participants with the knowledge and skills that truly empower them to make lifestyle changes to improve their chronic disease management,” said Susan Callaway, RN, who is one of the peer leaders.

Those taking part in the program will be provided a free workbook and healthy snacks at each class session.
