Oswego Health welcomes Audiologist Kathleen Burch, MA, CCC-A

Oswego Health welcomes Audiologist Kathleen Burch, M.A., CCC-A to suite 210 of the Oswego Health Services Center, which is adjacent to Oswego Hospital.

The new audiologist has 20 years of hospital-based experience in hearing diagnostics and hearing aids for patients of all ages.

Burch is a licensed audiologist who holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language & Hearing Association. Among the audiology services she is providing are hearing evaluations, tests of middle ear function and hearing aid dispensing.  Specialized behavioral and electrophysiological tests for infants and young children include auditory evoked brainstem response (ABR), otoacoustic emissions (OAE), visual reinforcement audiometry (VRA) and play audiometry.  Site of lesion ABR for adults is offered as an alternative to MRI.  Videonystagmography (VNG) is available for vestibular assessment.

She earned her Masters of Arts in Audiology from the University of Buffalo, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While earning her master’s degree, Burch was presented with several awards and honors including the Tindle-Shupe Award for Clinical Excellence and the Mary Mann, Most Well Rounded Student Award, both in 1994. She was also the secretary of the Graduate Student Association and was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship.

Burch earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in speech pathology/audiology from SUNY Geneseo, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

For balance testing, Burch has the ability to use state-of-the-art vestibular equipment. She can perform a Videonystagmography (VNG) test which involves recording a patient’s eye movements during a series of visual and physical tasks. This test, along with Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing, can assist in the diagnosis of balance disorders.

To make an appointment with Burch, please call 326-3792.
