Oswego Health is expanding its February wear red initiative, which brings awareness to the fact that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, to include this year congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the United States.
To share this American Heart Association message with new families throughout the month, babies born at Oswego Hospital are being given hand knit red hats, while the baby’s mother is provided information on heart disease.

As is the tradition at Oswego Health, staff members wore the color red to work on Friday, February 3rd. Community members can learn more about preventing heart disease from Cardiologist Thomas Grady Jr., who will hold an Ask The Doctor program at 6 p.m. Monday, February 6th at Springside at Seneca Hill. This event is free and open to the public.
